Visual communication remains a key differentiator in beauty & cosmetics, shaping consumer perception, brand positioning and commercial relevance. In 2027, emerging visual directions point toward imagery that feels more sensorial, expressive and emotionally resonant.
Tactile materials, familiar objects, reflective surfaces and carefully constructed product worlds are creating greater distinction and physical presence. At the same time, beauty is becoming more reassuring, adaptable and integrated into everyday life, balancing performance and pleasure with clarity, comfort and self-expression.
Omi commissioned beauty & cosmetics brand expert Jennifer Carlsson, founder of Mintoiro, to identify the visual and emotional signals gaining momentum across the industry. The result is the 2027 Beauty & Cosmetics Visual Trends Report, a forecast of the macro shifts, color stories and creative formats set to influence the year ahead.
How the 2027 trends were identified
The report combines quantitative tracking, direct visual analysis and beauty & cosmetics industry expertise.
The research draws on Mintoiro's Beauty Intelligence Database, a manually curated global database of more than 20,000 beauty & cosmetics brands across skincare, makeup, haircare and fragrance. More than 20,000 images from the social channels of thousands of trending, emerging and culturally relevant brands were reviewed directly.
These figures represent two distinct parts of the methodology: a database of 20,000+ beauty & cosmetics brands and a direct analysis of 20,000+ social images.
The analysis looked for recurring patterns across color, composition, materials, props, lighting and product presentation. Signals were assessed across categories, geographies, price points and brand archetypes, with brand momentum informed by Mintoiro's Brand Trend Index for Instagram and TikTok.
The report does not treat a single viral aesthetic as a trend. It focuses on repeated visual behaviors and the broader consumer and cultural shifts behind them.

Three macro trends behind the shift

Comfortable Confidence
Why now: In an overstimulating market, consumers are looking for greater stability and products that fit easily into everyday life. They are prioritizing consistent results and experiences that reduce the pressure to constantly optimize, transform or experiment.
Comfortable Confidence reframes softness as a form of strength. Hydrating formulas, forgiving textures, structured routines, familiar scent systems and approachable premium positioning create experiences that feel supportive without sacrificing efficacy or aspiration.
Brands such as Summer Fridays, Rare Beauty, Beauty of Joseon, Saltair and Haus Labs build authority through clarity, tolerance, reliability and sustained performance rather than urgency, intimidation or dramatic claims.
For brands and creative teams, the opportunity is to communicate warmth, reassurance and restraint while making products feel like trusted defaults within repeatable routines. Here, comfort is not simply an aesthetic benefit. It supports loyalty, habit and long-term relevance.
Tactile Authority
Why now: Consumers are increasingly drawn to beauty experiences that combine clarity and restraint with texture, scent, comfort and physical presence. Minimalism remains influential, but it is evolving beyond visual simplicity into a more embodied expression of quality.
Tactile Authority is built through consistency across formulation, packaging, product architecture and communication. Rich textures, recognizable scent profiles, refined materials, controlled assortments and cohesive brand systems work together to create experiences that feel intentional rather than trend-led.
Brands including Tamburins, Snif, Whipped and Anillo express authority through precision, sensory satisfaction and repeatable experience. Their products are designed not only to perform, but to become familiar and pleasurable parts of everyday routines.
For brands and creative teams, the opportunity is to create sensory coherence. Product, packaging, imagery and communication should reinforce one another so that quality feels tangible, distinctive and built for long-term relevance.
Expressive Play
Why now: Younger consumers are increasingly approaching beauty as accessible, collectible and constantly adaptable self-expression. They want experimentation to feel immediate and low risk, with products that can change according to mood, season or personal style.
Portable formats, vivid pigments, playful scents, affordable entry points and limited editions support flexible beauty wardrobes that can be layered, rotated and collected rather than tied to one signature look or scent. Small formats become accessories, while nostalgic collaborations can turn products into keepsakes.
Brands such as Amuse, fwee, Colorgram and Peripera make color payoff, collectability and transformation immediately visible. These qualities translate naturally into social content, where unboxing, texture and demonstration generate both attention and participation.
Expressive Play positions playfulness not as a superficial aesthetic, but as a model built around experimentation, personalization and repeat engagement.
The five colors carrying beauty & cosmetics into 2027

The report identifies five color directions spanning restorative pastels, polished metallics and high-impact red.
Dreamy Cerulean brings the calm of open skies and cool water. Used with droplets, gel textures, glass or soft textiles, it can support hydration and soothing claims without feeling clinical.
Soft Butter adds warmth, comfort and quiet indulgence. Its links to cream, honey, oils and gourmand cues make it especially effective for sensorial skincare, bodycare and fragrance.
Moon Lilac offers a more atmospheric alternative to familiar pink-led beauty & cosmetics codes. Pearlescent finishes, translucent materials and reflective surfaces keep its softness distinctive rather than delicate.
Cherry Glaze creates immediate recognition through glossy, saturated intensity. It can feel playful, sensual or premium depending on the finish and surrounding palette.
Silver Shift introduces a cooler expression of precision and modernity. Chrome, stainless steel and mirrored surfaces signal efficacy and technical performance, while familiar lifestyle objects keep the effect from becoming sterile.
These colors do more than set a mood. Each plays a distinct emotional and strategic role, influencing product positioning, packaging, materials and visual storytelling. Applied consistently, they can carry that story from launch imagery to PDPs, campaigns and local market content.
What beauty & cosmetics product photography will look like in 2027

The product remains the hero but the worlds built around it are becoming more distinctive.
Silver Plate uses polished trays and serving objects to present products as curated, high-value selections. Crown Affair, Phlur, Fenty Skin and Vilhelm Parfumerie show how reflective surfaces can create depth and a sense of occasion without overcrowding the composition.
Minimalist Set relies on a limited number of props, defined shadows and deliberate negative space. Everyday objects become sculptural, giving packaging and texture a clear focal role.
Modern Flat Lay brings more personality to the overhead composition. Letters, notebooks, magazines, keys, jewelry and travel objects connect products to a specific routine, identity or moment.
Coffee Tray turns the molded takeaway drink carrier into a recognizable creative structure. Products sit alongside coffee, matcha, pastries and personal accessories, positioning them within commutes, café visits and life on the move.
The report also identifies four emerging formats: Product Dev Moodboard, Dressed Up, Transparent Bag and Vacuum Packed. Each takes a familiar object or process and reframes it as a more tactile, graphic stage for the product.
Across these directions, beauty imagery remains highly considered, but becomes more sensorial, expressive and culturally familiar. Product focus is strengthened through reflective surfaces, tactile contrast, personal context and recognizable everyday objects.
How to bring each trend to life with Omi
These visual directions create a production challenge. Brands need more variation, not less consistency. One launch may require multiple environments, surfaces, formats and market adaptations, while every pack, label, proportion, material and finish must remain accurate.
1. Create once with a Digital Twin
Omi creates a photorealistic 3D replica of your physical product, capturing its exact artwork and typography, true-to-life proportions and accurate materials, textures and reflections. This governed Digital Twin becomes the trusted product source for every visual that follows.
2. Generate unlimited creative possibilities
Choose a ready-to-use template, customize it to your brand standards or use GenAI to create accurate lifestyle visuals from a prompt or reference image, with your Digital Twin preserving every product detail. The visual directions featured in this report are also available as ready-to-use templates in Omi, so teams can bring each trend into their own brand world without rebuilding or reshooting the product.
3. Deploy everywhere
One approved product source can then be activated across six core business needs:
PDP updates: Create accurate, complete product pages across every SKU and retailer.
Product launches: Prepare every launch asset before physical samples exist.
Creative production: Generate campaign-quality stills and video without reshoots.
Omnichannel campaigns: Adapt more relevant campaigns without multiplying production costs.
GenAI governance: Protect product accuracy and brand integrity across AI-generated visuals.
Global rollout: Maintain brand consistency across markets, channels and retailers.
From the first creative exploration to the final market adaptation, teams can interpret each trend through their own brand codes while keeping the product accurate, consistent and ready for every channel.
